Dr Jai's Approach to Osteopathic Care
Jai takes a patient centred, empowering approach to musculoskeletal care. He begins by understanding how the problem affects walking, work, sleep, exercise, sport and everyday activities. This information is combined with a physical examination to help determine the likely diagnosis and contributing factors.
His treatment combines targeted manual therapy with individualised exercise rehabilitation, so progress continues well beyond the clinic. Depending on the assessment, management may include:
- Education about the condition
- Activity and load modification
- Osteopathic manual treatment
- Mobility exercises
- Progressive strengthening
- Musculoskeletal rehabilitation
- Movement and functional training
- Return to work or return to activity planning
- Coordination with another HealthiClinic practitioner
- Referral for medical assessment or diagnostic imaging when indicated
Treatment is selected according to the individual presentation. Manual treatment may form part of care, but it is not automatically required or appropriate for every patient. Jai’s goal is to help patients return to the activities they love with more strength, confidence and less pain.
Whole-body musculoskeletal assessment
Dr Jai assesses joint, muscle, tendon and soft-tissue presentations affecting different body regions, with particular attention to neck, shoulder and lower back pain, as well as hypermobility. These may include activity related symptoms, persistent musculoskeletal pain, joint stiffness, reduced mobility and reduced confidence with physical activity. Assessment aims to identify the structures and functional factors that may be contributing to the symptoms.
Rehabilitation and musculoskeletal training
Dr Jai develops rehabilitation programmes according to the patient's current ability, diagnosis and functional goals. Programmes may include mobility work, progressive strengthening, movement retraining and gradual exposure to work, exercise or sporting activities. Improving strength and movement capacity Increasing tolerance to everyday or sporting activities Supporting recovery after injury Rebuilding confidence in movement Reducing the likelihood of recurrent symptoms Preparing for a return to work, exercise or sport Supporting recovery following another treatment or procedure
